Boundary
Waters Forest Management Corp. is located in
Northwestern Ontario, Canada adjacent to the
USA Border with Minnesota, Quetico Provincial
Park, Rainy Lake and Lake of the Wood. BWFMC
was established November 14, 2019 to provide
forest management of the Boundary Waters
Forest under a Sustainable Forestry Licence
#542245 issued by the Ontario Ministry of Natural
Resources and Forestry.
Historically, the Manitou Forest and the Seine
River Forest amalgamated to form the Highrock
Forest, eventually merging with the Fort Frances
Forest and the Flanders Forest to become the
Crossroute Forest. More recently the
Crossroute Forest joined with the Sapawe Forest to
become the Boundary Waters Forest on 1,533,333
hectares administered by the Fort Frances District
of MNRF.
Boundary Waters consists of 16 shareholders
representing local mill facilities, First Nations,
Métis, independent loggers, and municipalities. A
Board of Directors involves 12 people; six from
communities and six from consumer and harvesters.
The Board provides governance and direction
to the Management team.
